Easy Dessert Bread Recipe:Boxed Cinnamon Rolls/Sweet Cinnamon Bread
This Easy Dessert Bread Recipe :Boxed Cinnamon Rolls or Sweet Cinnamon Bread is made in a very simple and easy method.This cinnamon sugar bread is not overly sweet and it is best to serve it with the thin cream cheese frosting.
For Bread Dough
- 260 g Flour 2 cups (loosely packed)
- 170 g Milk 166 ml or 1/2 cup +3 tbsp
- 4.5 g Salt 3/4 tsp
- 3.5 g Yeast 1 tsp instant yeast or 1 and 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 12.5 g Sugar 1 tbsp
For Cinnamon Sugar Topping
- 50 g Sugar 1/4 cup white sugar or brown sugar
- 28 g Soft Butter or 2 tbsp
- 2.6 g Cinnamon powder 1/2 tsp
For Cream Cheese Frosting
- 45 g Cream Cheese ( at room temperature):3.2 tbsp
- 30 g Butter (at room temperature): 2.1 tbsp
- 7 g Powdered Sugar 1 tbsp
- 60 ml Milk Vanilla extract or Vanilla sugar :1/2 tsp 1/4 Cup (at room temperature)
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract or Vanilla sugar

Prepare the bread dough
Into a bowl,add all our ingredients together and mix them to form a shaggy mass of dough.Add the milk,sugar,yeast,salt and flour and mix them together.Transfer the dough onto a clean work surface and knead the dough until the dough become soft and elastic.Once we get a soft and elastic dough, let the dough sit and rest for 10 minutes.This will give some time for the dough to rest and this will make it easy for us to roll and shape the dough.
Shape into a rectangle and fill with toppings
After 10 minutes, just roll and shape the dough to fill your pan.As mine is a rectangular tray I shaped it into a rectangular sheet.Place the dough sheet on a well greased baking tray.Spread the top with cinnamon sugar butter.Make square pattern on top of the dough using a sharp knife.Cover the baking tray with a plastic film. How to make cinnamon sugar butter mixIt’s so easy to make this cinnamon sugar mix.Into a small bowl add in the softened butter.Add in the sugar.We can use either brown sugar or white sugar.when using white sugar the top will turn golden brown when it gets caramelized towards the end of baking.I didn’t notice any extra browning to my cinnamon bread when I used white sugar instead of brown sugar.Then add in the cinnamon powder and mix it all together to form a homogenous cinnamon sugar paste.
Proof the shaped dough
Cover and Let the dough sit and rise for 35 minutesina warm environment or until the dough really puff up.If your place is really cold or if the cinnamon butter topping is cold,it may take 10-15 minutes longer for the dough to puff up nicely.
