Ingredients

For the Blueberry Filling

  • 600 g Blueberries  (fresh or frozen) approximately :4 cups
  • 75 g Sugar (6 tbsp)
  • 2 g Lemon zest (1 tsp) zest of 1 lemon

For the Butter Base

  • 85 g Butter (7 tbsp)

For the Batter

  • 162 g Flour (1 1/4 cup)
  • 8 g Baking powder (2 tsp)
  • 150 g Sugar (3/4 cup)
  • 236 ml Milk (1 cup)
  • 1.5 g Salt (¼ tsp)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (176°C).
Place 85 g (6 tbsp) butter directly into your baking tray and put it into the oven while it preheats. This allows the butter to melt completely.
  • I have used 8x12 inch pan. We can use similar medium baking dish.

Prepare the Blueberries

  • While the butter melts, take a bowl and add:
    Blueberries, sugar and lemon zest.
    Mix everything together.
  • Carefully remove the baking tray from the oven once the butter has melted.
Add the blueberry mixture evenly over the melted butter.

Make the Batter

  • In another bowl, mix together:
Flour, Sugar, Baking powder and salt.
  • Add Milk.
Mix until just combined. Do not overmix. A few small lumps are perfectly fine.

Assemble the Cobbler

  • Pour the batter over the blueberry mixture.
    Do not stir.

Bake

  • Place the baking tray back into the preheated oven.
  • Bake at 350°F (176°C) for around 55 minutes.
    The cobbler is ready when:
The top is golden brown and The edges are bubbling.
  • Let it rest for about 10–15 minutes before serving.

Notes

1. Don’t Overmix the Batter

Overmixing can make the cobbler dense. Stir until just combined.

2. Use Real Butter

Butter adds richness and flavor. Avoid substituting with margarine if possible.

3. Let It Rest

Allow the cobbler to cool slightly before serving. This helps the filling set.

4. Watch the Baking Time

Ovens vary slightly. If the top browns too quickly, loosely cover with foil for the last 10 minutes.
