Servings 24 butter cookies
- 226 g Softened Butter or 1 cup
- 70 g Powdered Sugar or 1/2 cup +1 tbsp
- 250 g All-Purpose Flour or 2 cups
- 10 ml Milk or 2 tsp (add gradually, 1 tsp at a time)
Prepare the Cookie Dough
In a mixing bowl, add the softened butter and sifted powdered sugar. Whisk them together for 1–2 minutes until it forms a smooth and homogenous mixture.Sift and add the flour and mix with a spatula to form a dough. The dough will be too thick to pipe at this stage — that’s normal!Add milk 1 tsp at a time, up to 2 tsp, until you get a soft, pipeable dough that holds its shape but isn’t runny.
Pipe the Cookies
Transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a large open star tip or nozzle of your choice. I have used wilton 6 B tip.
Apply a dab of cookie dough on the four corners of the baking tray, then place your parchment paper on top. The sticky dough acts like glue and holds the baking sheet firmly in place.
Pipe elegant swirls, rosettes, or long cookies on a parchment-lined baking tray.
Chill the tray in the fridge for 15 minutes. This helps the cookies keep their beautiful edges while baking.
Bake the Cookies
Preheat your oven to 165°C (325°F).Bake for 18–25 minutes, depending on the size:Big cookies: around 25 minutesSmall cookies like Flower-shaped cookies: around 18 minutes.
Bake until the edges turn slightly golden.Once out of the oven, the cookies will be soft and delicate.Let them cool on the tray for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack. Decorate the cookies to add beautiful Christmas charm.Dip in melted chocolate dark or white, or sprinkle with chopped nuts or drizzle with melted chocolate or dust with powdered sugar. These little touches make your cookies eye-catching and perfect for gifting or serving during holiday gatherings. Enjoy them with a cup of hot tea, coffee, cold milk, or even iced coffee.

Butter cookies brown very quickly. Baking at 165°C (325°F) ensures even baking, and that classic buttery flavor without overbrowning.
