Ingredients Needed For Making Easy Apple Crumble
For the apple crumble topping
- Flour :135 g or 1 cup
- Granulated sugar :1/2 cup or 100g
- Softened Butter:1/2 cup or 113 g
- Salt: 3g or 1/2 tsp
- Vanilla extract:1 tsp or 5 ml
For the apple filling
- Apples(peeled, cored and diced) : 6-7 number
- Granulated sugar :1/2 cup or 100g
- Ground cinnamon :3g or 1 teaspoon
- Salt: 3g or 1/2 tsp
- Corn flour :19 g or 2 tbsp
- Lemon Juice:15 ml or 1 tbsp(or according to the tartness of apples)
How to make Homemade Apple Crumble
You can make Apple crumble in four simple steps!
- Prepare the Apple filling
- Prepare the Crumble topping
- Assemble the Apple crumble Tray
- Bake the Apple crumble
1.Prepare the Apple filling
In to a bowl, add in the peeled and diced apples, lemon juice,sugar,salt,cinnamon powder and corn flour.
Mix and combine them all together to form a homogenous mixture.
Keep it aside.
2.Prepare the Apple Crumble Topping
Into a bowl, add in the dry ingredients ,flour, salt and sugar.
Give it a good mix.
Add in the softened butter and vanilla extract for flavor.
Using hands or with a fork or with a pastry cutter ,work the butter into the dry ingredients until it form small and large crumbs.
We do’t want a smooth mixture, we want it to have a wet sand texture.The crumbles need to have lot of air and free space between them.
3.Assemble the Apple Crumble Tray
Pour in the apple filling on to the baking tray (including the liquid or any juice formed).
Scatter the crumble topping evenly over the apple mixture.

4.Bake the apple crumble
Bake at 375 For 190 C for 40-45 minutes.
Bake until the apple juices are bubbling around the edges of the baking dish and the topping is medium golden in color and firm to the touch.
After baking ,let the baking dish sit for five minutes so that it will get some time to cool down a bit and set.
You can serve it with some vanilla ice cream or with some custard cream.
How to make custard cream for apple crumble
Ingredients needed for making the custard cream
- Milk:250 ml
- Cream :250 ml
- Vanilla extract:1 tsp
- Egg yolks :4
- Sugar : 25 g or 2 1/2 tbsp
- Corn flour : 3g or 1 tsp
- Combine the milk and cream together in a sauce pan and bring it just to a boil(we don’t want to boil the milk)
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk the egg yolks with the sugar and cornflour until pale.
- Gradually add the warm milk, a ladle at a time, whisking well before each addition.
- Pour the mixture back into the sauce pan and cook gently on a low heat for about 10 minutes or until thickened, whisking continuously. Delicious served with all kinds of crumble.
Note
Don’t panic if your egg starts to scramble – simply take it off the heat and pour the custard into a bowl to cool, then strain through a sieve to remove any lumps!
