EASY BROWN SUGAR COOKIE INGREDIENTS

  1. Butter :113 g or 1/2 cup
  2. Brown Sugar (light or dark) :67g or 1/4 cup +1 tbsp
  3. Flour :146g or 1 cup + 2 tbsp

BUTTER :I have made brown sugar cookies by using both types of butter, salted and unsalted. Both times, the cookies turned out great. Personally I liked the one made with unsalted butter more and in the video I have used unsalted butter to make this brown sugar cookies.

BROWN SUGAR: Brown Sugar used in this recipe is light brown sugar. I have tried making this easy brown sugar cookies using golden granulated sugar, light brown sugar and dark brown sugar. The cookies were delicious each time.

The difference is in the texture of the cookies. Golden granulated sugar created more crispy cookies and one made with dark brown sugar were the softest. The cookies made with light brown sugar were in between. The molasses in brown sugar makes the cookies softer in texture.

FLOUR :The flour that I have used in this simple brown sugar cookies is plain flour or all purpose flour. We can use self-rising flour as well, which contain baking powder that can make the cookies even lighter.

1.Just mix all the ingredients in a bowl

In to a bowl add in the softened butter and the sugar and whisk them together until the butter is pale yellow in color.

2.Shape the Brown Sugar Cookies

Scoop the cookie mix into a spoon for making the brown sugar cookies even in shape.

I have used a 1/2 tbsp scoop. If you want larger cookies, use bigger spoon.

This recipe can make 20-30 small cookies or 12-15 large cookies.

Roll it into a small round ball and place them on a parchment lined baking sheet.

Flatten the dough ball with the back of a glass. Dust the back of glass with some flour to prevent the dough sticking to it.

Bake the 3 ingredient cookies at 325 F or 160 C preheated oven for around 20-22 minutes or until the edge of brown sugar cookies become lightly golden in color.

The taste of brown sugar cookie is not the same if they are under-baked or over-baked.

So take care to take them out from oven, at the right time. The cookies will start to turn light golden on edges and they smell really good when they are properly baked.

Let them stand in the baking tray itself for about 2 minutes.
